A little bit about websites in general ... Basically, there are three website types:
I. "Brochure" website. The brochure website is a passive, rarely modified site (like a printed brochure) that provides the minimum web presence. Typically, it is hard to find on the web, and therefore like a printed brochure, it must be "handed" to a prospective customer. This "handed to" activity generally take place via media (radio, tv, newspaper) ads and sometimes web advertising.
II. Dynamic Website. The dynamic or active website is full featured, enjoys new content on a regular basis, constantly returns marketing information and facilitates quick and easy user editing. Where with the brochure site you had to pay for visitors, the dynamic site taps into the Google, Yahoo, Bing facility to provide free "organic" search engine display. On a Google search display page, the top and right sections are for paid ads and the center section displays the free "organic" listings. If your listing displays in the center section (page 1 / 2 only) with a high volume keyword, you have tapped the largest advertising source in the world.
III. e-Commerce Website. The e-commerce website is tuned to sell product. This type of site is almost always supported with both media and online advertising and although the cost can be high, the rewards are even higher.
